As every year, the Virus Bulletin Conference 2013 is taking place this time in Berlin.
Just by chance, or maybe not, this conference is taking place between October 2-4. Today, October 3rd, is Day of German Unity, Germany’s national day. For the Avira team present at the VB Conference it is a pleasure to be in the country’s capital right when the national day is being celebrated.
This conference, by far the most appreciated security event of the year, has brought this year over 370 participants from all over the world.
Avira had one paper presented in the first day, introducing the Real Time Threat List (RTTL). The presentation was done by Avira’s Thomas Wegele together with other colleagues from the AV industry. This list, hosted and sponsored by AMTSO, is based upon Avira’s sample sharing system, and is designed to provide a real-time view of threats as they are found in the wild. The list allows for customization of queries to provide testers with information about specific threats in specific regions, as well as several other interesting test scenarios. The design of the RTTL is such that all AMTSO members can contribute samples to the system. Furthermore, the system lowers the workload for many vendors who already participate in the existing Avira system.
