Our developers managed to improve the scanning speed of the Avira scan engine by whopping 20 percent! The update will take place this afternoon. All users of Avira products from the free AntiVir Personal – FREE Antivirus over AntiVir Premium up to AntiVir Professional will benefit from the improvements.

The developers rewrote the IO subsystem. The new version reads faster and reduces the amount of IO requests. Additionally, the internal management of the scanning modules got optimized. On average systems the scanning speed increases by 20 percent due to these changes.

Avira was already one of the fastest antivirus solution on the market. These changes show that Avira is making serious efforts on producing fast and not-noticable security solutions. Security solutions that clog up all system ressources are useless – users simply deaktivate them in order to be able to work with the computer.
